KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A club in Tellico Village is reaching new feats, combining endurance and friendship.

The Soggy Bottom Kayak Club schedules paddling trips from April through November on nearby waterways. But four of its members recently traveled the entire length of the Tennessee River, all 652 miles.

It took Melanie Harmon, Dee Prickett, Pat Hart and Terri Cox 61 legs over three years to kayak the river from Knoxville to Paducah, Kentucky.

And they’re not done yet. Their next big adventure is kayaking a section of the Suwannee River in Florida in November.

It’s not just kayaking, the women enjoy hiking as well. Harmon said the Soggy Bottom club hopes to motivate senior women to get active and explore.
